Abstract
|
|
|
One of the rarest congenital anomalies of the liver is the agenesis of this organ. Two cases
this anomaly were seen in a three of ~
year period, all of which associated with calculous disease in their biliary system and compensatory hypertrophy of other segments. Both patients complained
of recurrent pain in right upper quadrant of the abdomen, suggestive of biliary disease. Two
patients underwent cholecystectomy and T-tube drainage, and operative findings confirmed the preoperative- :diagnosis. Marked
posterior displacement of the gallbladder and fibrotic band-like structure behind the gallbladder and upward displacement of the hepatic flexure of the colon were the operative findings. It was speculated that the
findings might be h primary defect in these operative
ypoplasia or atrophy of the right lobe of the liver of a congenital nature.
